Assessment:
Although it wasn't until far late in the season, polls did not indicate
that the PCs would form the largest party, and even then, only one poll
got it fairly close. In the end, the traditional dynamic held, with the
Liberals defeated after three terms and the PC's brought back to power.
The Greens though still turned in their best performance in any
province, and secured official opposition status, a first. Also a first
in over 100 years? PEI voters did give control of the government to the
PCs (no, that's not the first here), but only as a minority government.
It'll be interesting how this dynamic works out. |
Note:
The Green candidate for Riding 9 (Charlottetown-Hillsborough Park)
unexpectedly passed away on April 19, 2019. As such, that riding's
election is postponed until a later date, not to exceed three months
past the date of the death of candidate. The prediction table above has
also been adjusted. My thoughts and prayers are with the Underhay
family. - KEJ
